Young Rail Professional Award dinner 201630 April 2016
This month, for the fourth year running, we were proud to sponsor the Young Rail Professional Awards dinner, this year held at the prestigious National Railway Museum in York.
It’s always great to network with the upcoming talent in the rail sector as well as listening to the keynote speech from Sir Peter Hendy CBE, Chairman of Network Rail. Sir Peter gave an entertaining and insightful overview of the current challenges and opportunities facing the rail industry, plus invaluable advice to the young audience as to how to progress and excel in their careers. The speeches from the committee members throughout the evening including the incoming chair, Sabrina Ihaddaden, showcased the talent and ambition of the organisation and its plan to grow and develop moving forwards.
It was an honour to present Fiona Malcolm, from Porterbrook, the award for Young Rail Professional of the Year 2016. CPC takes an active role in judging the awards, and I was impressed, as always, with the calibre and growing number of nominations this year. It is becoming increasingly challenging for the panel to select the winner and the bar has been set even higher for next year.
The YRP is an inspiring and progressive organisation which celebrates those that are driven to improve and innovate the industry, to this end, CPC is proud to be a key sponsor and we look forward to support the organisation for many years to come.
