Andy Norris climbs Kilimanjaro for Rainbow Trust
26 January 2015
CPC’s Andy Norris returned home triumphant this weekend after climbing 4673m to reach Barafu Camp on Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
Andy started his 6-day trek with eight others at Machame Gate on 18 January, ascending through rain forest, alpine desert and rocky terrain to reach Barafu Camp after four days. From boiling sunshine to extremely freezing temperatures, Andy covered a distance of 50km overall.
Unfortunately due to suffering 2 days of high altitude sickness, Andy was unable to climb the final 1200m but still raised a phenomenal £4750 for CPC’s charity partner, Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity.
Andy said "It was a wonderful life experience and the hardest physical and mental challenge of my life. The views were stunning and I met some great people including my fellow trekkers, 43 porters, guides, cooks, and helpers to carry all our kit."
