Client: General Lighthouse Authority

Project Overview
Trinity House, the General Lighthouse Authority, commissioned CPC to conduct a series of organisational development projects.

CPC’s Role
CPC managed the delivery of each project, introducing change control procedures and trackers to ensure milestones were monitored and achieved. The main activities comprised:

Review of the Engineering and Asset Management Directorate - CPC reviewed the following to identity operational improvements

  • management & leadership of the functions
  • staff structures, numbers & HR frameworks
  • project delivery & asset maintenance
  • team work, staff skills and communication between teams.
Audit of the DGPS radio network - CPC reviewed the following themes:
  • Roles
  • Responsibilities and Outputs
  • DGPS documentation
  • Reporting
  • People
Design of a bespoke project management system – using Prince2 fundamentals, CPC:
  • Scrutinised the existing approach to project management
  • Produced 15 core documents with a comprehensive set of practical templates and a step by step guide
  • Conducted a series of training workshops
  • Recommended improvements to staff structures
Review of business processes within Operations Directorate - CPC :
  • reviewed internal processes for robustness
  • consolidated organisational changes
  • ensured there were no process gaps
  • delivered simplified processes and filled gaps
