Since 2001, passenger demand on London’s tram network has grown by over 65%, with 28.5 million passenger journeys every year, yet the infrastructure has remained largely unchanged.
The enhancement programme seeks to create the additional capacity required to meet growing demand and reduce congestion on the Wimbledon branch of the tram line.
CPC is project managing a £30m investment in the Wimbledon branch tram line in south London.
The programme includes delivery of a new platform at Wimbledon station, procurement of four new trams and twin tracking with associated infrastructure enhancements to the tram system.
Our team developed and presented the business cases for each stage of funding, which was subject to an extensive external review and comprehensive governance approvals, to secure the largest investment on London’s tram network to date.
To maintain service provision throughout the programme of work, CPC has led negotiations between London Tramlink, Network Rail (station owner) and South West Trains (station manager), to finalise agreements for the design and construction phases of the projects.
